New Bafana coach- statement by the UDM President (15 July 2010)

The UDM welcomes the news of the appointment of Pitso Mosimane as the coach of Bafana Bafana. It is a deserved promotion for the man who has been assistant coach since 2007 and is already familiar with many of the players and stakeholders.

It is vital that Coach Mosimane receive the undivided support of SAFA and the owners of the PSL clubs. It will be important that the National Coach can rely on club coaches to ensure that the physical conditioning of players are managed throughout the league season; a National Coach simply does not have enough time with his team to correct poor conditioning. In similar vein, the National and club coaches will need to consult regularly and conduct training clinics on the skills and strategic approaches that are ingrained in players at club level. We need to find ways of unifying different club playing styles (whether local, South American or European) into a coherent national approach.

We wish the coach the best of luck.
