Matric results - statement by UDMYV Gauteng Provincial Secretary (8 January 2010)
The UDM Youth Vanguard would like to congratulate those learners who passed their matric exams.
To those who did not make it; we commiserate; whatever the reason for your failure, we think that South Africa’s poor education system contributed to that failure.
The result from the independent schools speaks for itself; they did exceptionally well and one wonders what causes government-run schools to perform so dismally?
Government should stop pretending as if education is its priority and put its money where it’s mouth is. How can we expect maximum performance from our learners in government-run schools if there is a dearth education resources?
In the 2010 school year we want to see fully equipped schools with sufficient stationary, set books, information centers and laboratories, discipline and quality teachers. The UDMYV wants us to go back to the basics!
