Letter of condolences to the family of Dr Oscar Dhlomo on his passing from the UDM President (4 September 2008)

It is with sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Dr Oscar Dhlomo.

On behalf of the UDM, and indeed of my family, I would like to pay my respects.

To you and your family we extend our deepest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of bereavement.

I interacted with Dr Dhlomo when I was still in charge of the Transkei government; he always came across as a thinker, renowned for being calm and collected. He was respected across the world as an intellectual, whilst his role in bringing freedom and democracy to South Africa will never be forgotten by the people of this country.

To his family and friends I would like to say that he has played his innings and you can take pride in his achievements; you should forgive him that he has departed from our midst to go rest after a long and productive life.

May his soul rest in peace.
Bantu Holomisa, MP
