NEW UDM MEMBER IN KHAYELITSHA GUNNED DOWN MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY BANTU HOLOMISA, MP UDM PRESIDENT (8 March 2007)
The UDM has received with shock the news that Mr Ngombane, a former ANC and independent councillor who publicly joined the UDM Western Cape structures a few weeks ago, was gunned down last night. We condemn this barbaric act.

The police should speedily charge the suspects that they have arrested and should not drag their feet on this matter, so that would-be perpetrators of such crimes will get the message that it is intolerable in a modern democratic society. The sooner the matter goes to court the sooner we can get clarity on whether this was a politically motivated act.

If it was indeed a politically motivated killing, let it be known: The UDM will not be deterred or intimidated from working and campaigning in Mr Ngombane's ward or anywhere else for that matter.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr Ngombane; our thoughts and prayers are with you.
