CONDOLENCES AND TRIBUTE TO THE LATE BRETT KEBBLE

On behalf of my family and the United Democratic Movement I extend our condolences to the Kebble family on the passing away of Brett Kebble.

He was a fighter and a pioneer. We will remember him as one who fought for what he believed in, whether it was fashionable or not. For instance in economic empowerment, he was amongst the first in the country to embrace the need for empowering other South Africans.

His dedication and work rate in his businesses was legendary; and he was similarly enthusiastic in every aspect of life. His involvement in social, political and art matters was characterised by that same quintessential enthusiasm and gumption. When he did things, half measures were never good enough. He was a dreamer with a sense for the grand and the bold, but coupled with the realism and work ethic to actually achieve his impressive goals. His was a life of purpose.

We are deeply shocked by the manner in which his life was cut short. We condemn the assassination, and we sincerely hope that the security forces will swiftly find and prosecute the perpetrators of this ghastly deed. Such assassinations could easily undermine investment in the country. It should be investigated thoroughly and quickly, so that we donít allow the development of a culture of settling differences through the barrel of a gun. No person, irrespective of their status in life, should be the victim of such a violent and calculated demise.

May Almighty God be with the family as they grieve this great loss.

Kind regards
Bantu Holomisa
