UDM: “Sesifikile” Closing Rally - statement by UDM Secretary General (03 April 2004)

Provinces like Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape are South Africa’s poorest and yet the most neglected despite having voted overwhelmingly for the African National Congress (ANC). During the past ten years of democracy, these provinces seemed to have been cursed with corrupt leadership and administration. The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has decided to call its closing rally “SESIFIKILE’ which means “‘WE HAVE ARRIVED” because of this apparent chasm between the urbanised and more rural provinces.

By calling its closing rally “SESIFIKILE”, the UDM aims to reassure the people of South Africa that it has arrived with a BETTER FUTURE PLAN.
