MZIMELA: THE UDM HAS BEEN VINDICATED

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY MALIZOLE DIKO
UDM NATIONAL SECRETARY

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) is happy to announce and welcome today’s decision by the Durban High Court to dismiss, with costs, Dr Sipo Mzimela’s application to have him reinstated as a member of the UDM and as a Member of Parliament. The UDM will proceed to take measures to recover the costs from Dr Mzimela.

Justice has run its course and this should serve as a warning to any person who wants to defend and justify their corrupt practices, by taking court action. The UDM will not be pressurised to refrain from taking steps to discipline members - when necessary - because it is being threatened with court action.

The UDM awaits the results of the police investigation into Dr Mzimela's activities and believes that justice will again run its course and that he will be brought to book.

The UDM would like to reiterate its commitment to clean- and responsible governance and to reassert our perseverance to being a well-disciplined and responsible organisation.
