ISSUED BY T.P. MAHLANGU
GENERAL SECRETARY, UNITED DEMOCRATIC STUDENTS' MOVEMENT
United Democratic Students' Movement (UDESMO) strongly believes that a strong
and economically developing nation is an educated nation.
UDESMO therefore finds it a great shame and embarrassment that our country at
this day in age still has an education system that fails to address the plight
of learners as well as schools that do not have an adequate supply of
text-books, schools that discriminate along social and racial lines and a
government that turns a blind eye on corrupt and irresponsible departments of
UDESMO strongly condemns in the strongest possible terms, irresponsible actions
of Gauteng's Department of Education that saw matriculants write a paper which
had been infested by mistakes. If this is the type of transformation we talk
about in our education, then we might as well declare our nation a lost nation.
The United Democratic Students' Movement urges the National Minister of
Education, Prof. Kader Asmal, to take strong action against those who undermine
the future and thus the development of our great nation.
