ISSUED BY DR GERHARD KOORNHOF, MP
UDM SPOKESPERSON FOR PUBLIC ACCOUNTS
resignation of Andrew Feinstein is a loss to Parliament and specifically
regarding its role of accountability and oversight regarding the governance of
public funds. He is a man of integrity who was willing to put his principles
before party loyalty.
His sudden resignation confirms that something went badly wrong in the arms
procurement process as well as the investigation into this matter.
This resignation is one of many deeply concerning indications that the
investigation into the arms deal has become a damp squib. Unless the report from
the investigation team clearly indicates the wrongs committed in the arms deal,
it will be a sad moment in the history of South Africa. The eradication of
corruption is the democratic duty of every Parliamentarian irrespective of party
We wish Mr Feinstein well in his future endeavours.

UDM Spokesperson for Public Accounts
