with the passing of Govan Mbeki

Mr Thabo Mbeki
Private Bag X1000

Dear Sir,

It is with great sadness that I write to you today, on the passing of your father, Govan Mbeki.

I personally worked with Govan Mbeki in the early '90s and I know that he was a man who served his cause in a noble manner. Together, with him and Raymond Mhlaba, we worked well during that time to educate the people of the Eastern Cape about the need to promote the ANC's objectives.

He was a person who preferred to work behind the scenes and he did not play to the gallery. Govan Mbeki was an effective and companionate leader and his presence will be sorely missed.

I wish, on behalf of the United Democratic Movement and myself, to express our sincere sympathy in this time of bereavement to the children, family, friends, colleagues and all South Africans who shared in this great man's life.

Yours sincerely
Bantu Holomisa, MP
