UNITED DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT

MEDIA RELEASE

NO FORENSIC INVESTIGATION

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY MALIZOLE DIKO
UDM NATIONAL SECRETARY

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) is pleased to reveal that the Secretary to Parliament has accepted the recommendation that "...no further investigation be performed relating your
[Dr Mzimela's] allegations", into UDM financial statements. The UDM co-operated with the independent preliminary high-level investigation. (Letter from Secretary to Parliament addressed to Dr Mzimela at the end of this release.)

We maintained that Dr Sipo Mzimela's allegations were void of any truth and we have been vindicated. Dr Mzimela's attempts to tarnish the UDM and its leadership have failed.

The UDM acted quickly and decisively when Dr Mzimela's dubious financial- and administrative practices became apparent; the Masemola Committee thoroughly investigated the matter and, following its report, the UDM National Management Committee expelled Dr Mzimela from the party.

The UDM recommits itself to the fight against corruption; we will not cease our vigilance and will act on all corrupt elements, even if internal as we did in the case of Dr Mzimela.

At this time the UDM awaits the result of police investigations into Dr Mzimela's misappropriation of UDM funds.
