SCOPA SHOULD PREVENT SAA MISMANAGEMENT FROM BEING SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET

STATEMENT ISSUED BY STATEMENT ISSUED BY CEDRIC FROLICK, MP
UDM SPOKESPERSON ON PUBLIC ENTERPRISES

The UDM calls on the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) to investigate the affairs of SAA. The announcement of Cabinet that all parties in the SAA debacle have "acted in good faith" is outrageous. Government is actively participating in a large-scale cover-up of gross mismanagement of taxpayer money.

The UDM Spokesperson on Public Accounts has written to the Chairperson of SCOPA to request that this issue be put on the agenda of the committee. It would a gross dereliction of duty for any self-respecting parliamentarian to aid and abet the cover-up of mismanagement of public funds. In the interests of good corporate governance, and in the spirit of responsible oversight, there is no other choice for us but to ask for a thorough investigation of this matter.
