ANC's
MOTION OF CONFIDENCE IN SPEAKER
MEDIA
STATEMENT ISSUED BY MALIZOLE DIKO
UDM NATIONAL SECRETARY
The
United Democratic Movement (UDM) is very amused by the fact that
Mr Tony [Wamabenzi] Yengeni read the motion of confidence by the ANC in the
Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Frene Ginwala, in the House today.
It is very ironic that the person, who has yet to explain how he acquired his
4x4 (foul by foul) vehicle, is defending the moral authority of the ANC. It
appears as if Yengeni is thanking Ginwala for protecting him.
The UDM would like to reiterate its commitment to, and support of, our President
-
Bantu Holomisa. The UDM sent him and our other parliamentarians to protect the
integrity and interests of our country, and not, like the ANC, sing undue
praises to our buddies and pals.
The ANC has, from the start of the Arms Deal Debacle, made itself guilty of
attacking the integrity of Parliament by their actions and words. Bantu
Holomisa, on the other hand, has through his contributions, thrown the spotlight
of the South Africa public on the ruling parties' doubtful conduct.
The UDM also notes the ANC's tactics to change the debate, in order to draw
attention from the real issues at stake.
The UDM calls on Members of Parliament, from all parties alike, to protect the
interest and integrity of the South African Parliament, from this onslaught.
