ANC GRAVY TRAIN TRAVELS THROUGH S.A.
SPENDING SPREE OF ANC EXECUTIVE MAYORS

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY MALIZOLE DIKO
UDM NATIONAL SECRETARY

Just five months after the municipal elections in December 2000, the ANC seems to have already forgotten their election promises. The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has observed, with great concern, that the executive mayors of three metro councils have participated in a grand spending spree during the past few months.

Seemingly the ANC gravy train has made stops in Nelson Mandela-, Ekurhuleni- and now Tshwane metropolitan councils and picked up the executive mayors for a ride in misspending taxpayer's money.

The UDM would like to, on behalf of the people of South Africa, remind the ANC of their election promises and ask the party who claim to be the champion of the poor:

How does the ANC reconcile this blatant waste of valuable funds, by their executive mayors, with their promises of service delivery?
