GOVERNMENT MUST ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS OF BUSINESS

STATEMENT ISSUED BY PROF LM MBADI, MP
UDM SPOKESPERSON FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS AND TOURISM

The UDM applauds South African businesses that have committed themselves by way of declaration at the Imbizo conference, to promoting sustainable development in the country.

The conference, organised by the Industrial Environmental Forum of Southern Africa (IEF) is seen as the runner-up to the United Nations' Earth Summit, to be held in South African next year. It is proof of SA business'commitment to environmental issues.

The UDM recognises the importance of environmental management and sustainable development, especially in the context of third world countries and Africa.

The UDM calls upon Government to urgently address such issues within National Departments to align itself with this pro-active initiative of business, resulting in advanced economic and social policies.
