ANC FAILS PEOPLE OF NORTHERN PROVINCE!

STATEMENT ISSUED BY
NELSON RAMODIKE, MP AND  RONALD NYAKANE, MP
 UDM PARLIAMENTARIANS FROM   NORTHERN PROVINCE

The ANC government in the Northern Province is failing dismally in every sphere of governance. The phone lines of the complete provincial government, with the exception of the Department of Education, has been cut by Telkom due to unpaid bills amounting to R39 million! Meanwhile, Eskom has also cut its services to numerous Northern Province departments, resulting amongst others, in the suspension of potable water to 300 000 people!

The ANC government of the province seems hell-bent on destroying what little benefit the people of the province have received since the advent of democracy. Criticism of the ANC's complete and utter lack of responsibility toward the people of the province fall on deaf ears. Ironically, the people cannot phone to complain anymore, since even the Premier's Office phones have been disconnected!

The continued maladministration of Northern Province is unacceptable. How can the poorest province, with the most desperate need for delivery, be left to flounder like this? We call on the Minister of Provincial and Local Government to intervene immediately, and, if necessary, invoke the Constitutional clause that enables National Government to take over the administration of a province where that provincial government fails to fulfil its constitutional duty to the people.
