MEDIA RELEASE

INTERDICT REGARDING IDENTIFICATION OF PREFERRED BIDDER

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY SALAM ABRAM, MP
UDM COMMUNICATION SPOKESPERSON

The weekend statements by chairperson of SATRA Mr Maepa, and the application by Nextcom seeking an interdict creates numerous problems. The Minister will be well advised to institute a probe by the judiciary into all the circumstances surrounding the process as well as the reported allegation made by SATRA Chairperson Nape Maepa. The announcement of the name of the preferred bidder must surely be held in abeyance pending the outcome of such a probe.

Whilst the UDM dismisses any alleged culpability on the part of the Minister or the President, regarding the alleged interference in the process which has led to the identification of the preferred bidder, we are however concerned that the integrity of our Country’s leaders is being put at risk. Such a probe will assist in clearing up any misgivings.
