UNITED DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT

MEDIA RELEASE

DISGUSTING ANC “WIT GEVAAR” TACTICS
 IN THE WESTERN CAPE

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY MALIZOLE DIKO
UDM PROVINCIAL SECRETARY

It was a sad day yesterday for the UDM leadership in the Western Cape, to listen to how the ANC leader, Mr Ebrahim Rasool used the “wit gevaar” tactic to try get Black and Coloured support. This is more surprising as it comes from a party that masquerades to be the champions of non-racialism. We believe that this is nowhere close to reconciliation. Maybe the ANC has abandoned the reconciliation process and this is one way of telling us just that.

Racism is rife in the Western Cape, it has to be dealt with; but not in the opportunistic manner that Rasool is doing. We need to be mature and responsible when dealing with racism. Trying to create chaos and instability so that Rasool can become premier of this province is not reasonable.

The Coalition Government is definitely not doing much to address the issue. Poverty and inadequate housing are the biggest problems that the disadvantaged have to live with. The Western Cape Government must put its money where it mouth is, if it wants to be taken serious on its commitment to serve the disadvantaged masses who so desperately need upliftment.
