UNITED DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT

MEDIA RELEASE

WORLD AIDS DAY

MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY BANTU HOLOMISA,
UDM PRESIDENT

It is now accepted throughout the world that AIDS is fast becoming the world’s biggest economic destabiliser after the Second World War.

The Government should steer away from the pitfall of spending money only on awareness campaigns and doing little else. More resources should be used in trying to change the behaviour of our society. Funding should be made available for credible research and the development of preventative measures. AIDS should now be personalised. The Government should come up with an implementable programme, as the Minister of Health promised when she came back from Uganda.

The State President and Minister of Health should fight AIDS, not only with words but also with deeds.
